Top Team

This week on Monday we done something called top team where you get a score sheet and there are 14 teams and we need to keep going around to other courses. my fav one was gutter ball with is you have a golf ball and you need to connect all the gutter pieces and when the ball has  rolled over yours gutter piece you need to go to the front  and keep doing that and it needs to go into the bucket and my second one was called conveyor belt where there is a little thing where you stand in and you need to keep trying to walk to the end and turn around

Persuade people to buy astick

This 2 weeks we have been trying to persuade people to buy stick but its no ordinary stick its a super stick. This is what i have done.

Persuade people to buy a stick

Have you ever dreamed of having the amazing thing to just put some extra shine in your life?  Did you ever think of one thing that could just fix your whole career?  Do you need the perfect object for your Life? Well I offer you this amazing stick. It can help you, save you and keep you company.

Firstly, it can help you turn on/off your T.V If you can't be bothered walking over there you can just poke the T.V with a stick. It can be a walking stick if you can’t walk properly you can lean on it for support.

Secondly, It can save you by if someone is trying to rob you and it can be a weapon and It can save you from sticky situations.

The Last reason, at night it can sleep with you and watch over you.  If you are scared of the dark it will be looking over you because sticks can’t sleep.(which sounds a bit creepy)

It may even make your friends jealous. It will stick to you for life. it is 99% wood and 1% super sonic brain power. And it's not plastic.

So Go to your nearest shop and look for the amazing stick for only 1 dollar, and just remember it is limited addition.

The Purrfect Pet

Did you know, Cats are Purrfect?

I think Miss McLeod should get a cat because Cats are cuddly and cute, they are playful and they don’t need much attention.

Firstly,  Cats are cuddly and cute because they have lots of fur. cats are also soft and cuddly because they can curl up on your lap and make you and them go to sleep.

A second reason,

Cats are playful because you can play games with them

And they are  really good at those games

Third,

They don't need much attention  because they can play games with them self and clean themselves without needing a bath or a big wash. They don’t need to play with people lots as they can play with themselves

Overall, You Should get a cat because they are just the purrfect pet. So go to the nearest pet shop and buy the purrfect pet!

Scentences

In writing we have been learning about sentences. i have learnt how to write a simple and compound sentences. A sentence needs to have a capital letter and full stops. it must have nouns. a compound sentence is when you put two sentences together.

inquiry work

In inquiry we have been learning about the process people go through  to create a product. i had to make the salt dough i was using so i could make it.

new family info booklet

lNew Family InformationEvery year new families come to South Hornby School.It is full of nice and friendly people and fun learning communities.
We go to school trips and every year on Term 4 we have school camps. They are in December. We have camp choir and kapa haka.
You'll get to know everyone here. We have our own pool most schools here don’t have a pool but we do it is about 10 by 4 metres long.We also do winter sport.The options you can choose are netball, hockey, rugby and soccer we do training every thursday . We also do pizza day and hot dog day  you can get hotdogs and drinks
We help schools raise money for the lovely charities with no money or they are sick. We have kiwican there are 2 leaders they are nathan and katie they play fun games and they talk about our values. The school values are Play Choose Your Attitude Be There and last of all Make Their Day.
We have milk for schools it is fonterra. We do cross country, athletics and duathlon.And last of all of the good people go to the office to Mr.M and you get marshmallows mellowpuffs and hot chocolates.I hope you enjoy this school

Digi Awards 2016

We have been working on Digi Awards. We are doing Be The Change. Today we have been learning how to code I finished one game of flappy code and I learnt to code
and I then started to do it and then I finished doing it.
i'm now onto my second level.

As a class we brainstormed what Be The Change was. I chose to save penguins and make other people stop littering because they die from our litter in the ocean. I made a game on code.org about it. I learnt to code. I learnt about penguins and how littering hurts them.

tom and vinicus Episode 1

this is the first episode of the Tom&Vinicus show.

1. first they start as little glowing balls then they hit the ground and turn into Tom&Vinicus tom is a little blue mascot that is made of all native plants in rio de janerio. and vinicus is all the native animals in rio de janerio.

Today at school we learnt about  how to set goals and to persist when we have set a goal that we need to do.

Holiday Recount

This week we wrote Holiday Recounts

In the Holidays my Sister,Mum,Dad and I went to Hanmer Springs. We had to get our car ready I took togs and clothes,a towel,goggles,snorkel,flippers. We went to the pools they were so hot first I went in a spa that was 40-42 degrees it felt like I was on burning hot fire so I hopped out really fast.

So I hopped in one that was 38-40 degrees it was so perfect so I stayed in it for about 5-10 minutes. After that I went in the huge pool it was warm so me and my sister went to the very deep end mum and dad were all ready over there so we got over to the deep end and dad went underwater and I hopped on his shoulders he came up really fast and I done a backflip and splashed.

After about half an hour I went on a hydro slide it was so fun I liked it. When I had been on a hydro slide about four of five times I went on the super bowl hydro slide is a big high tube you need to climb stairs and it's a MASSIVE tube that has water in it and that’s warm and if you sit down you go really slow so you need to lay down so you go SUPER SPEED!

After a while my Sister went with me on the super bowl we went on a double  the line was short there were only two other people going on it so we hopped straight in the water and went straight down it and we went in circles lots and we got stuck in the water so we had to push ourselves out it was really hard and we went down the hole backwards

Riley,dad,(liv),maddie and I went the movies we watched the jungle book in 3D it was awesome!! The names were mowgli,baloo,bagheera,shere Khan,Akela,raksha,kaa,hathi,Rama,Mysa,Chil,Ikki,Tha,Thu. Mowgli was with the wolf pack leader (Akela) and the tiger came (Shere Kahn) and pitched Akela up and threw her off the mountain it was sad.

My favourite thing in the holidays is that we went the Hanmer Spring for two days and we got to see the fun things we could do there such as i saw a big spider and a cool looking tree it was awesome

This year we have been doing work on Be There. This is one of our new values. It is about being there for people that need your help and being their in your learning and being focused.

Star Explosion

This week we have been writing about a star explosion and we and to describe what it was about. First we made a sequence map then we made a describe ++ map it was fun.

We watched the video of a star exploding. This is it below.

My Star Explosion Description

A star explodes when it reaches the end of it’s life.

The star begins as a bright yellow star. It starts to bubble with orange,yellow and red flames. I think it's getting hotter because it’s getting ready to explode. This makes me wonder how big do stars get

Suddenly lots of little explosions pop out like popcorn it's really blue and white i wonder what it might look like from earth it might look all orange then when it gets bigger you can see it's all blue maybe i think it is like this because the core has exploded. It makes me wonder how did the core break?

All of a sudden there is a bright white flash. The flash expands from the star and goes as far as you can see. It might go further then you can see.  I think it does this because the core has gone BOOM!! This makes me wonder are stars small suns?

Finally the star has exploded and the whole star is blue and it’s getting bigger and bigger. I think that when it has exploded it turns into little rocky things and spread throughout space. This makes me wonder how do stars  grow and grow?

Overall there are 4 stages to a star exploding.

ON YOUR MARKS GET SET GO!!

I’m the boy in the front

I’m jogging at the start. He was beating me at the start then when he slowed down. I jogged past him after I got past him I had to do 5 more laps. Then i slowed down a bit but he still coulden’t  get past me i started to get a tummy ache.

I'm trying to not walk but i can jog i'm getting a really bad stitch it hurts he is only about  2 metres  away.

I can feel sweat dripping down my face i'm trying to wipe it all off. I’m boiling like i’m in a hot jug. I feel really dehydrated I NEED a drink NOW !!

I can hear all the cars going past. There are lots going BROOM. Lots of them are revving and lots and lots of people are cheering at me.

I can see all the brown trees and dead crunchy leaves i keep standing on the leaves

I can taste  sweat falling into my mouth it's disgusting i'm about to do lap 4. i can feel the food churning in my stomach

Computer safety

Spencer Park Trip

Last week on Friday the Senior syndicate went to Spencer Park.  First we

had a meeting about safety. Then we got to eat.

After we ate I went on the big red rope spiderweb I nearly got to the top  there was a big rope in the middle there were mat sort of things we could sit on I sat on one for a bit then I went up to the next one and sat on that one for a little bit too then I climbed to the top and sat there for a wee while. After that I went to the sand but there was water and sand there was a water fountain i pressed on that and it made lots and lots of water after I went on a toy digger and scooped up a lot of water it was so fun then.

I went back to the spider it sort of looks like the Eiffel Tower After that I went back to the sand bit and no one was on the digger so I hopped back on it and covered up the water with sand and flooded it  so i dug up the sand again and tried to there was a blue thing you had to sit on and let someone swing me around and there was also a big blue donut you could spin on and it could fit about 6 people on it and had a couple of turns on it.

I also went to the toilet after that The whole Senior Syndicate went to the beach and had two competitions and the first one we had to dig a big hole and Mrs Raisin will put an i pad and in the hole and took a photo of all of us After that.

We Covered up and We tried to make a hero and i done our dad it was so fun. After that we had a we bit of a play at the beach and Austin and I played tag and i tagged him 3 times and he tagged me 4 times.

Make Someone's Day

 We have been learning about how to make people feel good about them selves.

 We taped some card board to our back and we had to write nice things about people.

Some people said i'm cool and
