Parihaka

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about the story of Pariaka. Which was about how the British soldiers took over Parihaka and arrested the leader because they were on there land. For this blog post we had to answer some questions from a song called Parihaka. Heres the link to the song > (Song Link). The main message of this song is about Parihaka and Te Whiti. In the song "you can't pull out your roots" means you can't stop them from planting seeds. The song also says "His children's children wearing the white plume"  which means they are wearing the white feather that represents Te Whiti. Te Whiti will never be defeated which means he'll always be remembered and talked about.

ANZAC

Hello, in social studies this week we have been learning about Anzac and what it is, it was on April 25 where Australia and New Zealand made an alliance to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. I have been making a map for it. where the fights were, and what it was about, ANZAC stands (Australia New Zealand Army Corps).  I've made a map about where it was, and where the mines were in the water. Here is the map that I made. (Map). The red on the map was ANZAC and the green was the British.

The song comes on at April 21 every year, it is for remembrance for the soldiers that lost their life fighting on those days. it is played as a final farewell at military funerals and commemorative services. the song represents our 2 country's. The Last Post

Atomic Science: Periodic Table

What does the periodic table show us? it shows us what the elements are and how many electrons, neutrons and protons have. it explains how much matter is inside of them, says how many protons, electrons, neutrons. it shows how many shells it has and shows the position on the periodic table. Alkali metals have 1 electron in the outer shell. they need to get rid of it so they can react. atoms are made up of 3 things, electrons, protons, neutrons. the electron it on the outside while the proton and neutron are in the middle. the centre of the atom is called a nucleus. every element has at least one atom in it. the number at the top of the element shows how many electrons there are, and at the bottom is the neutrons and protons.

We did an experiment where you put water and universal indicator in, then miss put lithium in first, it just smoked and spun around in circles, but then she did a bigger chunk and it made it spin way faster and smoke more. then after a while she put in sodium, the small piece smoked ALOT. then she got a bigger piece and put it in, and eventually it caught on fire and exploded, all the little bits that were caught on fire went all over the tables.
